Located in St Paul, MN, Tecnetics Industries was founded in 1973 by a group of Fortune 100 employed Engineers experienced in the dry material handling industry. The company was acquired shortly after its founding, by Wellspring Corporation, with expansion financing provided by the founding family of 3M (Minnesota, Mining and Manufacturing), and branded its products with the Tecweigh name. Throughout its history, Tecnectics Industries has continued to grow beyond its US beginnings to North and South America, Europe, and Asia.
The expansion of the company in the mid 1980’s came in the form of a joint venture with Jacques Quarrying and Mining located in Melbourne, Australia. With this agreement, Tecnetics Industries, and the Tecweigh brand were able to expand the companies reach with operations and manufacturing throughout Australia, Malaysia, Singapore, Indonesia, Thailand, and Hong Kong. Subsequently, in the 1990’s, Jacques Quarrying and Mining was sold to Terex. John P Madgett III, the sole owner of Tecnetics Industries, purchased the divisions of Jacques Quarrying and Mining related to the existing Tecnetics Industries business. The acquisition company was Tecweigh Pty Ltd, headquartered in Melbourne, Australia. Tecweigh Pty is a sister company of Tecnetics Industries, Inc.
